The exhibition space at Webgasse 29 in 1060 Vienna closed in January 2013.

Saprophyt was founded in 2008 by artists Stephan Lugbauer and Barbara Kapusta.

Its concept aimed to connect the practices of its participants. All pieces and works realized for Saprophyt were kept in the space. Conditions of a white cube were nevergiven. Appropriation, collaboration and dispossession intended to shift one´s focus towards the conditions of artistic work, production methods and value.
